David vs Goliath. Pretty much one of the most famous Old Testament stories. It’s a story about putting faith in God to overcome your ‘Goliath-like’ obstacles…right?
Not totally. Mostly it’s a story about God raising up an unexpected Saviour to save his people from an enemy they cannot defeat. This becomes a foretaste of God’s greater act of raising up a perfect Saviour, Jesus, to defeat the greatest enemy of God’s people (sin and death).
Here’s my younger brother’s take on it. A six-minute sermonette for his ‘Intro to Preaching’ class last year. He’s promised that if it gets to 5,000 views he’ll do another one. We’re 1/10 of the way! Let’s bump this up a bit.
It’s slightly simplistic Biblical Theology, but given the time constraints it’s on the money.
