The Brisbane Leadership Training event was held a few weekends back, so it’s time I reflected on some of the challenges which were thrown my way over the weekend.

Ministry is tough:
Big ‘duh’ points going my way here but this weekend once again affirmed that full-time ministry is tough. Especially challenging was a talk given by Ying Yee on some of the trials and suffering that ministers of the gospel have gone through. By the talks end I sat there wondering to myself, “Man…do I really want to get myself into that?” I spoke to Ying a bit more afterwards and also asked a question during the ‘question and answer’ period. His answers and words did, in the end, comfort me a little – but the reality check was still there. Ministry is tough – and it’s tough because you’re dealing with sinful people…and you yourself are not perfect.

New faces:
I met some new faces from Sydney. MTS’ers and bible college students who were up to assist with the weekend. I shall remember these faces fondly and the talks that I had with them.

Other stuff:
It was a great weekend. I came away challenged and refreshed ready to serve my brothers and sisters. I wonder how other people, from other churches, found the weekend. In any event, it will do everyone well to keep them in our prayers.

Speaking with Tekkius not too long ago we were both very excited about the prospects of what could possibly be happening in Brisbane in the near future. Gospel ministry may be difficult, but it is also incredibly exciting to be a part of. So I pray for a level head and for the energy and commitment to see God’s kingdom grow – to infinity and beyond.
