When my alarm went off at 8am on Saturday morning I realised that it was going to be a long, but also good day. I haven’t had the chance to sleep in for a while, but Saturday was a different day.

The morning had the wedding of J and Lilmisswongy after 7 years of dating and courtship. It was news to me when I found out about their engagement – their relationship had hit a rather low ebb before the announcement but it’s been all smiles since then. What has encouraged me the most about this relationship has been both their focus on Christ and their focus on helping each other to grow. The groom later admitted that whilst the opportunity to see his beautiful bride grow more and more into the image of Christ was something he was looking forward to, he also liked the prospect of snuggling!

How much commitment he was willing to give also surprised many of us – in which his best man, during his speech, said something to the effect that J was willing to give up his computer (almost a permanent attachment in recent years) for his wife. Let’s see how these words are put into affect… ;)

Then later that evening was YF’s Camp Reflections. From what was said I could gauge that this years camp had a particularly profound affect on many people – even more so than in recent years. It is so great to see how camps reenergise people in this manner! Many people were nearly moved to tears whilst sharing their experiences and still others shared very openly about the challenges they faced – particular those who were non-christian or those who were going through a hard time in their spiritual life.

My hat off to everyone who participated in bringing this camp together. It’s a very big team effort and though some of us may have felt that our contribution was not given enough credit I believe that our Lord and Saviour will have a very big, “Well done…” waiting for us.
