I’m pleased to announce that I’ve been asked to contribute some of my posts from here to be included on the Thinking of God site.
Here’s a cut and paste of the ‘About Us’ page from the site:
Thinking of God is a coalition of evangelical ministry leaders who are deeply committed to the Gospel, have a desire to return to the classical tenants of evangelicalism, and have a passion to engage with other Christians. It is the intent that Thinking of God’s website serves as an outlet for those individuals to write and express themselves about the multitude of issues affecting, and impacting, Christianity and ministry so that we may equip each other for the of the furtherance of the gospel. Such discussion and topics may include, but is not limited, to theology, current affairs, observations and apologetics amongst other things. The main aim of Thinking of God can be simplified in three points:
Connect
A desire to connect with those who care greatly about holding to the truths of God’s words, who also are committed towards the advancement of the gospel whilst also acknowledging the sovereignty of Christ over the entirety of their lives. Fundamentally, members should strive to both bring glory to God and believers to Christ.
Grow
A desire to equip, share and engage with each other as well as provide a platform where we can glorify God as ‘one-body’. It is hoped through this engagement, that we are able to mutually edify each other as well as promote God’s salvation through His son, Christ Jesus.
Unite
A desire to form a unified front amongst all those believers who proclaim Christ — across denominational, racial, and social boundaries — in order that we may encourage and spur each other to champion the gospel together in the world that God has placed us. We wish to appeal to all our brothers and sisters to join us in this effort to reform the contemporary church so that all believers may loudly proclaim the reality of the gospel — that Christ is our only hope of salvation.
Our Outlook:
We see the challenges which face many Churches. Increasingly, we see the acceptance of both moral and theological relativism becoming social norm. We see theological liberalism permeating the Church with a disregard for the relevance of God’s scripture in todays’ society. We see the promotion and idolatry of materialism and consumerism within the Church with the view that God wants us to be “comfortable and prosperous, healthy and wealthy” rather than sacrificial preachers of the Gospel. We also see a greater amount of individuals who are twisting or challenging the sufficiency of both God’s scripture and the atoning death of Christ.
Yet, we also see a world which is increasingly repudiating the existence of God. A society which is challenging each and every point which God had established in his sovereignty. We see a culture which has become progressively hostile to the Church and its attendants, seeing the issues raised in scripture as being antiquated, archaic and irrelevant for today’s world. So too, we see that Christians are often treated in a way that degrades them due to their faith, being seen as psychological weaklings for supposedly needing a crutch to get through life. We see a world where Christians are discouraged from public discourse if they mention just two words, God or Jesus. However, we acknowledge that this is as Christ foretold us, that issues would arise in the life of believers, both in and outside of the Church. Yet, we are honoured that God has called us to play a part, no matter how small, in his grand plan of salvation. As such, we have a deep desire to see Christians evangelizing and modelling the Gospel to those who are unsaved. We have a passion to see individuals repent and believe unto Him. We too, like God, desire to see all to come to repentance and be saved (1 Timothy 2:3-4, 2 Peter 3:9).
This won’t change anything on this current site, but it means that my posts will often appear on two sites now.
So here’s to more blogging for the glory of God.
