I was helping Shte1 do the dishes last night and my mobile went off with a reminder – I seriously had no idea what it was for. Shte1 read it out, “Haha! Me, 5 years old!” to which my new in-laws asked, “Birthday? Who’s birthday? Not yours…not yet…”

So much has happened in 5 years. I was recently asked by a non-Christian friend what it was like being a Christian, whether or not becoming a Christian was a good decision? I replied, “Becoming a Christian was tough, but it was the best thing I have ever done.”

So I thought I’d put together some of the high-lights and low-lights of the past 5 years:

  • The realisation that, unlike what the ‘Da Vinci Code’ has recently alleged, the gospels are a reliable account of Jesus life, death and resurrection.
  • Parental reaction to the news of myself, and Brysie, becoming Christian.
  • Reading great books.
  • Growing daily in my love for God.
  • BGR studies – “I Kissed Dating Goodbye!
  • Finding and using great resources from Matthias Media
  • Burning out
  • Being renewed
  • YF
  • CCCB
  • KYLC
  • QYC
  • BLT
  • Bible study – Genesis, Romans, Judges, Full Of Promise, Postcards from Palestine, The Blueprint
  • YF Camps!
  • Seeing people come to Jesus, and grow
  • Apologetics Seminar
  • Meeting my beautiful wife at YF
  • Getting married with a gospel centred ceremony
  • Prayer
  • Great music – Emu Music, Steven Curtis Chapman

Each moment – high and low – brings a smile to my face. There will be much more to come as well. And I can not wait!
