Her voice over the phone was shaky, I could tell that she was quite worked up about her situation. It had been three weeks since any work was done on her new home and she had already spent in excess of $200K getting it to this point.

I felt sorry for the lady on the line who had called up my work place seeking some justice for her situation. When I informed her that she needed to seek legal advice as to her rights (I could have told her, but in my position I am unable to) and options as to what to do in her situation she became even more worked up. I think the final nail in the coffin was informing her that if she wanted to start an action through the my Tribunal then it could be approximately one month before they would sit down at Mediation and even longer if the problem required a hearing.

To make things worse, it was her son (or son-in-law) who was doing this work and was now refusing to lift a finger until final payment had been made.

What do you say to a person in this situation? What avenue of justice can she pursue when she has no more money left?

As I hung up the phone my thoughts turned to the ultimate justice which will be meted out at the end of this age. When Christ returns to judge this world, he will see this situation in its fullest and will hand out a judgement that all will realise is just and perfect. It’s hard to imagine, but it will happen.

As for the athiest… what remedy could they realistically offer? Money certainly would help this situation, but who is going to give it? And ultimately, what do you do about changing the hearts and minds of all those in this situation? Will there ever be ultimate justice in a godless philosophy?
