The week down in Katoomba flew past so quickly – one of the more quicker weeks in the short time I have been here on earth :P Not quite in stride because I’m still quite tired from the week.
Such a great time was had by most everyone, I think. This year’s talks and workshops added some extra impact for me especially this year in these ways:
– It has been affirmed that I am a fool if I choose to live my life in defiance of God (cf Psalm 2). Though I am not openly defiant, I find that my life is filled with a rebellious nature. The strongest characteristic of that would be displayed in my choice to try and live my Christian walk by my own strength. There are many areas (prayer, private devotion, etc) that I wish to bring under His power – though these applications weren’t very specific drawn from the Psalm 2 talk I did find myself challenged not to think in these foolish ways.
– Lyrics matter when it comes to music choice. I don’t know why this lesson wasn’t ingrained into me earlier – I’ve always thought that lyrics were of high importance. This year I was able to sing my heart out to some really great, upbeat AND meaningful songs. Usually one would find that an upbeat song would lack meaning, but these songs were different :)
– Not only is it great to recieve the talks and be served by so many volunteers, but I would like to return next year to ‘give back’, so to speak, by playing music. I do hope and pray that I’ll be able to :)
The weekend in Sydney was also a good time catching up with friends. I did a bit more than anticipated, thus making the week at KYLC that bit more tiring. Got to visit St Andrews Cathedral to hear Philip Jensen speak (finally!) and also visited CCC Milson’s Point where old friend Pete Ko gave us a sermon on Psalm 73 (don’t envy the wicked or the world).
Much to be grateful for. Much to continue to pray for.
