Christmas day came and went, a rather long day and yet a very good one to.
The day started with a church service at Shte1’s mother’s church. It was an interesting experience with both Shte1 and I unable to understand most of the service as it was in cantonese and mandarin. However we didn’t come for the chinese but came for the ‘Cantata’ – a musical piece taken from scripture and what not. Definetly the highlight of the morning!
Then we had a Christmas lunch at my place with Anish and Mookee, and also some of my mother’s friends joining us. This was an interesting experience…
I then went back to Shte1’s place to rehearse some music for the Boxing Day service at our Church the next day, and also chilled for a little bit. Later that evening we arrived at Lil Chik’s home for a Chik family gathering.
The dinner was very pleasant and getting up to hijinks with some of our peers was a very enjoyable time! However, I didn’t really know what to expect during the final evening’s event of opening up the Christmas presents…
From Shte1 I recieved two very nice dress shirts and a Christian calender that I was wanting to get so I could put it up at work.
From Shte1’s parents I had previously recieved another very nice t-shirt and some chocolates.
From Shte1’s older brother I recieved an unexpected present! Turned out to be a model woolly mammoth skeleton that I can have fun piecing together! How cool is that!
And then, another unexpected gift from Shte1’s aunt – an electric lint remover for clothes!
I have never before recieved so many presents! It was a nice reminder of how grateful I am for this life and for the ultimate present offered to me 2000 years ago in that tiny manger in a small town far far away…
